TorqueTrailPulse Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the TorqueTrailPulse iOS app ("App") and the TorqueTrailPulse website ("Website"), provided by TorqueTrail.

2. What Data We Process

We process the following categories to provide app and website features:

  • Location data: GPS coordinates, speed, distance, and elevation delta for run tracking and telemetry calculations.
  • Motion-derived telemetry: acceleration, longitudinal/lateral g-force, and vibration patterns for estimated metrics like 0-100 km/h time, braking distance, and smoothness score.
  • Run summaries: session start/end time and metric summaries for local history and trend review.
  • Optional social summary images and route labels: images generated from run metrics for user-requested sharing, plus an optional coarse route label derived from the recorded path when you choose to include it in a share.
  • Optional exported GPX files: generated on-device when you request export.
  • Optional private iCloud backups and encrypted manual exports: selected app data that is either uploaded to your private iCloud account using CloudKit when enabled by you, or written to a passphrase-protected backup file when you request manual export.

3. Permission Model (iOS)

  • Location (When In Use): used for telemetry while you actively use the App.
  • Motion access: used for motion-derived telemetry estimates.

You can change permissions in iOS Settings at any time.

4. Background Recording Behavior

Background recording is optional and disabled by default. If you explicitly enable it, the App may use significant location change monitoring to continue selected telemetry behavior in the background.

5. Local-First Storage, Retention, and Deletion

TorqueTrailPulse does not require an account. By default, run data is stored locally on your device (SQLite + local app data).

  • You can delete run data in the App (where provided).
  • Uninstalling the App removes local app data from your device.
  • Exported files you share outside the App are controlled by you and recipients.
  • Any optional route label included in a shared social summary image is derived from the recorded path on your device.
  • Optional private iCloud backup uploads selected app data to your private iCloud account using CloudKit when enabled by you.
  • Encrypted manual export creates a passphrase-protected backup file that you choose and store.

6. Third-Party Services and Analytics

As of the effective date of this policy, core TorqueTrailPulse telemetry features are designed to operate without third-party advertising SDKs. If we add third-party processors in the future (for example, analytics or crash diagnostics), we will update this policy before rollout and present any consent choices required by law.

7. Live Activity and CarPlay

The App may display Live Activity status during recording. CarPlay support, if provided, is read-only summary oriented.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only when required by law, to protect rights, or when you take an explicit action (such as sharing an exported GPX file or social summary image). If a social summary image includes a route label, that label is derived from the recorded path and is shared only when you explicitly tap share.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to a local-first mobile app. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

10. International Users and Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal data, and to object or withdraw consent where applicable.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or older age thresholds where required by law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

12. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date.
